Master Asking for Help: The Give & Get Strategy #shorts

I'm curious if you have any mental model or approach to asking people for help because it seems like you use the community really, really effectively and you learn so much and people were so willing to help out. >> I always do. I always start with a small ask. And the second thing I do, which is really important which a lot of people miss out, is give something back. Don't just go in with the ask.

A lot of people just go in saying that, "Hey, I want, want, want, want, want." They never want to give anything and that is why they don't receive anything as well. When you want something, please give something as well. People always ask me that, "Hey, how do I ask for help, right? No one is going to help me or no one wants to give help back or I don't have anything to offer them." I tell them it's not true.

One of the things I did early in my career, man, when I came off the gym business, I had no idea in tech. You know what I offered people, Joseph? I offered them personal training advice. Yeah.

I was like, "I ran a chain of gyms. I understood a lot about how the body works, how I used to work on this method. I was a bodybuilder in the past. One thing I can help you with, maybe not in the tech side, but I can help you with your own health or fitness." So, always there's something or the other you can give back. >> That's really good advice.

I think that's something that people don't think about a lot. Just I think people might have heard like, "Oh, give first." But like if you're joining a Discord community or you're on Twitter or you're like meeting people in person, like not a lot of people just give first like that. A give first mentality like helped so much. That's awesome advice.
