YouTube is demonetizing channels, and the numbers are getting scary. This channel, The Lost Narrator, with 180,000 subscribers, [music] got demonetized by YouTube, and according to their post, the reason was misleading family content, even though their videos themselves show the efforts they put into making them. Then this channel, I Wonder Why, with almost 500,000 subscribers, who makes 3D animated shorts with tens of hours of editing, also got demonetized because of inauthentic and mass-produced content [music] policy.
And countless other channels are facing the same demonetization problems, and if you think your channel is safe just because it hasn't happened to you yet, think again. After watching tons of videos from these demonetized channels, I got my hands on some deep connections between all of them, and I will explain them all. And the reason is not AI, even though you might think it is, which might be true at some point, but AI is not the main reason. And once you see these connections, you will understand exactly what YouTube is actually doing, and more [music] importantly, how to make sure it never happens to your channel.
Just take a look at these two videos and answer my question, which of these two was made by Zach D Films? Easy peasy, the left one, right? Even though both videos are from the same niche and have the same type of content, but the actual context and style is what makes the actual difference. And the second was actually where I taught people how they can make content similar to Zach D Films using AI in my previous video.
Now, even though the scenes were created and animated with AI, there is a huge difference, and the video looks unique and stands out. And even though being AI generated, I am 100% confident it will get monetized without losing a sweat. Now, look again and tell me which one was made by Zach D Films. It's the right one, actually.
You got confused, right? And it's not your fault. Anyone will get confused. So, if you and I can get confused, then why don't you think YouTube's AI won't get confused?
Both have the same image style, same editing, and same concept. I am not trying to defame anyone, but just because you spent 20 hours editing won't save you from demonetization. Your videos must show a clear difference, otherwise you will just appear as a cheap copy of a big brand. Just because you click that not made for kids button while uploading doesn't mean kids won't watch your videos.
It's not a magic button that vanishes your video from kids feed. Your video topic, as well as the characters that you display on your channel logo or thumbnail, also attract kids. If you are using a SpongeBob or a cute puppy or similar cartoon characters that kids watch, your videos will definitely get clicks from kids, and it will reach more and more into their feed. And because what you selected while uploading doesn't match with the views you are getting, you will fall into the trap even if it was not your intent.
YouTube doesn't know what your intent is. YouTube looks at the watch history of your viewers to put them into an age criteria. And even though their accounts show their age as 18 plus, such copyrighted cartoon characters are a mess of their own. On top of that, using them in your videos, even if your videos are for adults, won't be of any help, because if a kid sees Daffy Duck on a thumbnail, he or she is going to click, and that's a red light to the algorithm.
Even if you use a super realistic AI voiceover or even your own voiceover, and on top of that, your editing is top-notch, or maybe you are animating your clips using advanced AI models, you still have very high chances of getting demonetized. If your script sounds robotic, if you take a closer look at any YouTube video, you will see an option to enable auto captions, and you can even get the entire transcript of any YouTube video. And the reason is that the moment you upload your video, YouTube's AI reads the entire script of your video to enable captions, as well creates entire transcript of your video, and puts it into a specific category so that your videos get the correct audience.
But besides that, it also analyses your script for AI plagiarism, that whether your script is genuinely human-written or AI slop. And if the score is high, your video gets flagged as mass-produced content, because the core of your video is flagged as AI generated. So, whenever you use AI to write a script, make sure to read it, rewrite a few sentences, add your own commentary, and you can very easily do all of that once you study the topic you are making a video on. There are hundreds of channels using copyrighted anime clips, channels making movie explanation videos, movie review videos, motivational and self-improvement videos with 100% copyrighted content, and still sitting fine and making money on YouTube.
Why? Because their videos are meaningful. Viewers get something out of them, and that's why it appears as transformative content, and that's why such channels are still making money on YouTube in 2026. If you want to reduce your odds of facing such monetization issues, make sure your videos don't look like a copy of a big channel.
Make sure your characters and the material you use in your video is safe to use and not intended for only kids. And most importantly, make sure your packaging, your titles, and your topics are not repetitive. But honestly, even after taking all the correct measures, you are still in trouble, just like this channel, Eddie Farbi, who got demonetized, even though their videos appear high quality with almost everything showing value. But in such a case, your only hope is appeal.
And if you genuinely followed all the rules, you will get your monetization back, just like Eddie Farbi got his monetization back, even though it took a lot of efforts and appeals. So, moral of the story is, no matter if you use AI or not, make sure your content shows value, stands out from the crowd, and looks premium. Listen to me, I know you don't want to work on YouTube anymore. I understand that fear.
But tell me just one thing, in which part of life is there no risk? You are sitting in a classroom with 50 other medical students, all studying the same thing, but not all of them become successful doctors. According to research, Uber delivery boys have a road accident rate of 20% to 45%, and the failure rate of a new business startup is more than 90%. Yet we still take risks.
So, promise me one thing, that you won't give up no matter what. Work with the algorithm, not against the algorithm. And besides that, what is your opinion and thoughts on this matter? Let me know in the comments.
